IC 405 and 410 in Auriga

Imaged from Nova Scotia Fall, 2011 using a modified Canon T3i DSLR.

The image immediately above is of IC 405, known popularly as The Flaming Star Nebula. The image is the result of combining 11 twelve-minute exposures through a 6nm hydrogen alpha filter with an additional 18 two-minute RGB exposures for a total integration time of 2 hours 48 minutes. All exposures were at f4.0 with a Canon 600mm lens at ISO 800 on a modified Canon T3i DSLR.


Below is pictured both IC405 and nearby IC410. This image is the result of combining 24 six-minute exposures through a 6nm hydrogen alpha filter with an additional 31 two-minute RGB exposure. Total integration time was 3 hours 26 minutes. All exposures were at f2.8 with a Canon 300mm lens at ISO 800 on a modified Canon T3i DSLR.
