Juncos

There always seem to be a few of these little birds flitting about my property. They frequently give me a start by flying out under my very feet as I come down my steps . . . they like to take cover under my porch. I'm afraid I could step on one! They are ground feeders and only rarely can one take a picture of one on a branch.

Red Breasted Nuthatch

I am always amused by the antics of these little birds. They are very tolerant of human beings. While I have made no attempt to hand feed them, one did accept a seed from my hand when I was refilling the feeder. They are very small and make a distinct "quacking" noise just like little ducks.
