Sackville Waterfowl Park
New Brunswick, Canada
Red Wing Blackbirds
There are lots of them in the park drawn by nesting opportunities in the cattails. They are still very hard to photograph however. Their colour makes it difficult to get an acceptable exposure that retains some feather detail without the surroundings being totally burned out by overexposure.

It is the breeding season. These birds spend much of their time defending their territories by perching on a prominent point and hurling out the challenge to all comers.
